The Perrenoud Ranche Historic Site was bequeathed to the Province of Alberta.
The Cochrane and Area Heritage Association has been actively restoring
the 1910 ranch house for use as a museum and cultural centre.
The original log homestead and outbuildings are a picturesque reminder
of Alberta's pioneer past.

The original log homestead cabin still exists on the site though its sod roof has caved in. A second house, right of the original, was constructed later. Other outbuildings were added as the operation grew.

Original log has been reinforced inhibit further deterioration.
Resident owl peers out from abandoned feed shed.
The second house is propped up on the left. A blacksmith shop, right, was part of the ranch operation as machinery was repaired and sometimes constructed on site.

Heritage buildings and machinery make good subject matter for visiting artists.

The rocky mountains are visible thirty kilometers west of the Perrenoud Ranche site.
